Research and Development

 

Research and development is an integral part of dynamic system without which, development does not occur. Dynamic as agro-ecosystem is therefore, changes do take place in time and space, necessitating continuous eco-system monitoring and analysis. The IPM project through an R&D Coordinator will interact with provincial units on this aspect and would help in initiating need based R&D activities and if needed, will provide and/or arrange technical assistance. R&D activities require funds on regular basis and the project is seeking funds from different sources and convince through MINFAL, the funding agencies including International sponsors to support the R&D activities in the IPM sector.

 

Following are the subjects to be focused under R&D component:

 

1.  Pest and parasite/predator relationship

2.  Pesticide use & animal health

3.  Pesticide residue/contamination in food chain, soil, water and      Environment

4.  Role of pesticides in biodiversity degradation

5.  Biodegradation of pesticides

6.  Determination & analysis of usefulness of ETL

 

Major Activities of the R & D component are:

 

1.     Review of IPM research in Pakistan

2.     Development, Evaluation and Execution of Research Projects.

3.     Meeting of Provincial and Private Sector research stakeholders to refine specific problems and priorities.

4.     Contractual research on TOF/FFS field oriented problems

5.     Post-graduate research in IPM related issues
